The emancipation date of a child is the date a child reaches the age of 18 and has graduated or otherwise withdrawn from high school (whichever date is the latest), but not to exceed the child’s 19th birthday.
It is important to notify Child Support Enforcement of the status of your 18, or soon to be 18-year-old child, as early as four months prior to the date of emancipation to ensure proper continuation or termination of the child support order.
